Description

George III Shilling 1817, S3790, MS66 NGC, very different in appearance from the 1816 in this collection but also Superb, the surfaces near perfection, strike crisp on both sides, digits and letters of the legends clear and bold as made from fresh dies, toning an even and subtle russet gold with bright bluish iridescent hues. The first two "R"s in the obverse legend have unusually fine, curved serifs. Just a marvelous example of this type!
