George IV gold 1/2 Sovereign 1823 MS65 NGC, KM689, S-3802, Marsh-404 (R2). Of outstanding quality for this rare date in the fleeting laureate head series. Bright and even a touch Prooflike to obverse where the field dazzles beneath the King's frosty bust. The reverse has a more satiny appearance with fresh bloom decorating the surfaces. A stellar representative, tied for the second-finest certified at NGC and bested by a lone outlier there, whereas PCGS has not certified any higher than a single MS63.
