Description

George IV gold "Coronation" Medal 1821 MS60 NGC, Eimer-1146a, BHM-1070. By Benedetto Pistrucci. 31.34gm. GEORGIUS III D G BRITANNIARUM REX F D Laureate head left // PROPRIO JAM JURE ANIMO PATERNO King George VI seated on throne being crowed by Victory from behind, approached by allegorical figures Britannia, Hibernia, and Scotia from the left; in exergue INAUGURATUS / DIE JULII XIX / ANNO MDCCCXXI. An elusive Coronation commemorative seldom found uncirculated in this gold variety. George's portrait soars toward the viewer in high relief, while the reverse chorus bears witness to the momentous beginnings of a new era under his rule. Mild wisps confirm the grade designation, not outside the norm for this type.

Diameter: 35mm
