Description

George VI bronze "model" Penny pattern 1937, Freeman-790, extremely rare with an estimated 2-5 pieces known, MS64 BN NGC, extremely choice and obviously struck as a proof, the color a luscious faded red and chocolate brown, as viewable in our illustrations. Generally attributed to the reign of George VI but of course this could easily fall into the collectible realm of the abdicated Edward VIII, and may in fact be a trial for his new penny. The pennies of George V did not feature a lighthouse on reverse, while those that followed did. An important pattern. Ex Colin Adams Collection.
