Description

George VI Matte Proof "English Crest" Shilling 1951 PR64 NGC, KM876, S-4108, ESC-4201 (R6). With a slightly granular appearance and a planchet colored a light shade of graphite, the designs are deeply impressed and the surfaces remain free of handling. A fascinating issue that was reportedly produced for the purpose of easing flash photography, thus making the imagery usable for the marketing of the Festival of Britain, a government sponsored exhibition which promoted British contribution to science, technology, industrial design, architecture and the arts. Very rare with only 3 or 4 known according to English Silver Coinage.

Metal: Copper-Nickel
Diameter: 23.6mm
Weight: 5.65g
