Description

James II Crown 1687 MS63 NGC, KM463, S-3407, ESC-743. TERTIO edge. An elusive choice survivor from the short-lived reign of James II, struck a year prior to the Glorious Revolution that would overthrow the monarch in 1688. Exhibiting a light steel patina that uniformly graces the surfaces, James's portrait typically shallowly engraved yet well-preserved, with highly crisp reverse detail showing only extremely isolated weakness in the crown surmounting the French shield. Absent any meaningful handling, with scattered traces of iridescence occurring to both the obverse and reverse.
