Description

James II Sixpence 1686, S-3412, AU55 NGC. The dies for the coinage of James II were produced as a high relief. The die pressure was rarely enough to fill in the die, as can be seen on this piece. The reverse has some haymarking, but this is an interesting coin in that the 6 and the 8 of the date have obviously been repunched. The pressure of the first two attempts was much too low.
