Description
Victoria bronze pattern Penny 1862, P2059, Coronet head, very rare, MS63 RB NGC, tiny cluster of carbon flecks on reverse along with an ancient scratch, variegated russet toning. Struck as a proof with high wire rims, slightly soft impression on reverse side. Most crowned effigy pieces were colonial issues, which Leonard Wyon did aplenty, so this is a most interesting homeland pattern for sure. Obverse die by Minton after LCW. Penny collectors will love this one. Appears to be the Baldwin-Dr Johnstone coin, sold in July 2003 by Spink for 1,505 Pounds.More information about Great Britain Coins.
