Description

Victoria Crown 1847, S-3883, KM-744, GOTHIC type, XF, but has been rather harshly cleaned. Cleaning is an all-too-common occurrence. As one of the most beautiful coins produced by the Royal Mint, it ended up in the hands of a lot of non-numismatists who thought nothing of giving their heirloom a little 'polish'. We can always look at this positively in that at least it didn't get melted, which has been the fate of a lot of Victorian coinage of less beautiful design.
