Description

Victoria gold 1893 Proof Set. The Half Sovereign, KM784, and Sovereign, KM785, are graded PF65 CAMEO NGC. A light tone covers both coins from long-term storage in the Proof case. The Two Pound, KM786, is graded PF64 CAMEO NGC. It is hard to see why this was only called a 64. Perhaps, it is because of the bit of tone in front of Victoria's face. This is consistent with the toning of the other four coins in this set so it shouldn't affect the grade. The Five Pound, KM787, is graded PF64 ULTRA CAMEO NGC. There are a few light hairlines that one would expect for this grade and for the fragile surfaces of a Proof gold coin of the 19th century. The ULTRA CAMEO seems to make up for these hairlines.
