Elusive 1853 "Gothic" Crown
Victoria Proof "Gothic" Crown 1853 Proof AU Details (Obverse
Damage) NGC, KM744, S-3884, ESC-2584 (R3). SEPTIMO on edge. Of
the numerous Crowns struck throughout Victoria's prolific reign,
few are as celebrated as those bestowed her iconic "Gothic"
portrait. And while we handle 1847-dated issues with regularity,
almost never do we have the opportunity to offer those bearing the
MDCCCLIII (1853) inscription, with only three others in our
auctions in the last decade. Despite its conditional qualifier
noted on the outer rim, the crispness of the devices and pervasive
peach-tinged slate patina elevate its visual quality that will
doubtlessly contribute to advanced consideration.Metal: Silver
