Description
Victoria Young Head Sovereign 1843/2, S-3852, rare overdate (last digit heavy but the underlying 2 is quite distinct) in truly delightful condition: Uncirculated and choice but for faint hairlines across the obverse; however, the luster is exquisite and mellow, the color perfect for a sovereign, the strike bold except on the two lower leopards in the right lower quadrant of the shield. Faint rim scuff at about 10 o'clock obverse (easily missed). It may be argued that there is faint friction on the obverse, but this coin's eye-appeal should propel it into the range of lofty bidding. 2007 Spink price valuation for Unc is £1,650 (about $3,300). This coin could exceed that estimate of value. It will be interesting to see what bid captures this coin, for it appears infrequently for sale, and seldom so fine as this!More information about Great Britain Coins.
