Description

William III Crown 1695 MS64 NGC, KM486, S-3470, ESC-990 (prev. ESC-86). SEPTIMO edge with cinquefoil stops. A beautiful representative of this portrait Crown type of William III, sheathed in a delicate silty patina, with significant underlying wateriness noted throughout the fields. An undercurrent of metallic blue iridescence sweeps the surfaces upon rotation in hand, enhancing a crisp, bold strike. Most often encountered in VF preservation, this specimen certainly stands among the finest known survivors, pressing the upper bounds of its assigned grade to closely contest the single MS65 yet recorded by NGC.
