Description
Near-Choice Gold Coronation Medal of William IV
William IV gold Proof "Coronation" Medal 1831 PR62+ Ultra Cameo
NGC, BHM-1475, Eimer-1251. 33mm. 27.59gm. By William Wyon. A
virtually impeccable "Coronation" type engraved by the indelible
William Wyon featuring the King's now iconic bust and a seldom-seen
depiction of Queen Adelaide. Golden resplendence abounds this
near-Choice offering, further accentuated by a wholly deserving
"Ultra Cameo" superlative that stuns at first sight. Only 1,203
examples of this Medal were produced in gold, and of this low
mintage, 238 were subsequently melted, leaving just 965 surviving
pieces, with a fraction of that having been submitted to grading
services. As it stands, only three examples rank finer, making this
a top-tier target for those on the hunt for coronation types.Metal: Gold
Diameter: 33mm
