Description
William IV gold Specimen "Coronation" Medal 1831 SP61 PCGS, BHM-1475, Eimer-1251. 33.5mm. 27.82gm. By W. Wyon. Bare head right WILLIAM THE FOURTH CROWNED SEP : 8 1831 // Bare head right ADELAIDE. QUEEN CONSORT. CROWNED SEP : 8 1831. Immediately recognizable Coronation medal from the hand of William Wyon, featuring the King's now iconic bust and a seldom-seen depiction of Queen Adelaide. Only 1,203 examples of this Medal were produced in gold, and of this low mintage, 238 were subsequently melted, leaving just 965 surviving pieces, with a fraction of that having been submitted to grading services. Both busts raise slightly frosted against the wider fields, which are toned in a rich olive-harvest hue. Beautiful and slightly more attainable at this grade point.Metal: Gold
Diameter: 33.5mm
