Othon bronzed-copper Specimen "Spyridon Trikoupis" Medal 1826-Dated (1836) SP65 PCGS, Wurzbach-8848. 44mm. By Konrad Lange. Greek War of Independence series. Commemorating the freedom fighter and historian. Obv. ΣΠΕΙΠΙΔΙΩΝ ΤΡΙΚΟΥΠΗΣ, bust of Spyridon Trikoupis left. Rev. ΚΑΙ ΕΣΤΑΙ ΩΣ ΕΛΑΙΑ ΚΑΤΑΚΑΡΠΟΣ, ΜΕΣΟΛΟΓΓΙΟΝ 10 ΑΠΡΙΑ, scene featuring personification of the Hellenic Republic coming to the aid of fallen Greek soldier and child. Splendid milk chocolate surfaces that positively ripple with watery reflectivity. From an interesting and rare series of 12 medals struck in 1836 upon the occasion of the marriage of King Otho and Queen Amelia.Metal: AE
