Description
1793 C-3, B-3 Half Cent, VF30
1793 1/2 C C-3, B-3, R.3, VF30 PCGS. Ex: Jon D. Lusk Collection. The usual die state exhibits a perfect obverse die with light reverse die rust. This is the third of four 1793 half cent varieties produced with 250 to 325 estimated survivors, according to William Eckberg in The Half Cent, 1793-1857, The Story of America's Greatest Little Coin. Eckberg opines that these coins were struck on July 24 and delivered to the Mint's treasurer two days later. Aside from a nick on Liberty's jawline and another below the R in LIBERTY, both serving to identify this example, the surfaces are virtually flawless. Trivial reverse rim nicks are positioned above each S in STATES. This is a lovely mid-grade example for an advanced type, date, or variety collection. From The Jon D. Lusk Collection.
