Description

1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent, AU50
Popular First-Year Issue, C-4, B-4

1793 1/2 C C-4, B-4, Low R.3, AU50 PCGS. Manley Die State 2. A memorable AU specimen of this popular first-year issue that is seldom encountered in Mint State. Variety C-4, B-4, with the Y in LIBERTY close to the cap and the leaf pointing to the final A in AMERICA. The die flaw at the top of 7 in the date indicates the die state. A pair of planchet fissures shows in the upper right obverse field, but the surfaces show few post-strike distractions. Only a trace of actual wear is evident on the design elements. The smooth olive-brown surfaces exhibit a few highlights of original red patina and the overall presentation is most attractive. Our EAC grade VF30.
