Description

1793 Cohen-2 Half Cent

1793 1/2 C Genuine PCGS. C-2, B-2, R.3. The PCGS number ending in .92 suggests Cleaning as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of a VF specimen that has been cleaned. The surfaces are a bit on the rose-red side, too much so to be entirely natural. Some interesting planchet irregularities appear near the obverse rim, below the date and above ERTY and the cap, and there is a rim bump at 3:30 on the obverse. The strike is centered a bit too far left opposite that bump, at 9:30 on the obverse. There is a single mentionable tick beneath Liberty's eye, but despite these minor problems, a wealth of detail remains and the reverse is relatively problem-free, aside from a rim bump at 9 o'clock. MRB Fine 15.
