Description

Prized C-2, B-2 1793 Half Cent, VF25

1793 1/2 C VF25 PCGS. C-2, B-2, R.3. Obverse with die defect at the top left of the 9 in the date, reverse with 2 in the denominator nearly touching the ribbon. The reverse is rotated approximately 45 degrees clockwise from "coin turn."
Half cents and large cents were the only Federal coinage denominations struck at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia in 1793, and both enjoy immense collector popularity. This example of the smaller denomination has moderate wear but few serious abrasions. Deep teak-brown hues dominate the fields, while the worn high points offer lighter caramel color. An entirely pleasing survivor. MRB Fine 12.(Registry values: P8)
