Description
Noteworthy 1793 Half Cent, VF30, C-3, B-3
1793 1/2 C VF30 PCGS. C-3, B-3, R.3. Attributed by the position of the Y in LIBERTY, compared to the edge of Liberty's cap; and by the position of the lowest right side leaf tip compared to C in AMERICA. The design elements are well centered on the planchet and struck with normal die alignment. The mahogany-brown toning is occasionally interrupted by areas of darker, charcoal-brown color, most noticeably to the left of and beneath LIBER; also near the lower left reverse border. A pair of crisscrossing adjustment marks are noted on the right side of the obverse, and another appears in the left obverse field, near 9 o'clock along the border. There are no severe distractions, but a shallow, trench-like mark vertically bisects Liberty's nose. Overall, an attractive and noteworthy example of this early half cent issue.
