    Description

    Choice XF 1793 C-3, B-3 Half Cent
    Deep Even Brown Color

1793 1/2 C XF45 NGC. C-3, B-3, R.3. The half cents of 1793 comprise four die marriages of about equal rarity (except that the C-1, B-1 is slightly scarcer), produced with the aid of two different obverses and three different reverses. The obverse of the C-3, B-3 is shared with the C-4, B-4 variety, showing a deeply hooked curve to the bust of Liberty at the back of the neck. The reverse of the B-3 is shared with the C-2, B-2, showing the last A in AMERICA joining the stem end. This Choice XF example displays even deep brown patina on each side. The planchet is problem-free, save for two laminations on the reverse near 9 o'clock. A scrape appears in the center reverse under HAL. Our EAC grade VF30.(Registry values: P8) (NGC ID# 2222, PCGS# 1000)
