    Description

    1794 C-9, B-9 Half Cent, AU55
    Rare Early Die State

1794 1/2 C AU55 PCGS. C-9, B-9, R.2. Manley Die State 1.0. Although clash marks are evident with a faint die crack through the tops of IBERTY, this is the rare early die state for C-9 with no evidence of a die crack from the border at 9:30 through the cap. This example is finer than the Cohen Collection coin and finer than the Manley plate coin for the early die state. Glossy light tan surfaces show a darker toning spot at the junction of the cap and upper hair strands with scattered light handling marks and faint hairlines. A pleasing specimen for the specialist. Our EAC grade XF40.(Registry values: P7) (NGC ID# 2223, PCGS# 1003)
