Description

1794 B-1a, C-1a Half Cent, AU58
Normal Head, Large Letters Edge

1794 1/2 C Normal Head, C-1a, B-1a, R.3, AU58 NGC. Fuhrman Die State 4. Both dies have been re-ground leaving only a small obverse clash mark between Liberty's hair and the cap, and reverse clash marks are much weaker than prior states. This near-Mint half cent is a sharply detailed C-1a that has the normal relief of Liberty's portrait struck slightly high, a boldly repunched date and a Large Letters edge. Attractive olive-brown patina is accented with gold and iridescent toning, and minor surface marks are consistent with the grade.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2010), lot 3063.
