Description
1795 Plain Edge VG 8 Numerous Planchet Flaws. B-6c, C-6a, R.2. 80.39 grains. Crudely struck on a cut down Talbot, Allum & Lee cent, the MER from COMMERCE shows on the reverse rim above OF AME. There are several dig-looking planchet flakes on each side that detract from the overall appearance of the coin. Portions of the rims are also missing because of heavy regrinding in the mint (that also ground away the Liberty Pole). Darker gray in the fields with lighter brown color elsewhere.
