Description
1795 C-5b, B-5b Half Cent, VF35
Thick Planchet, Plain Edge, No Pole
1795 1/2 C Plain Edge, No Pole, Thick Planchet, C-5b, B-5b, R.4,
VF35 PCGS. 129 grains, 23.8 mm diameter. The heavy weight
suggests this coin was struck on a cut down large cent planchet.
Glossy brown-steel surfaces show a scattering of microscopic marks
and shallow pits/ridges across the fields. The date is weakly
struck, as is the central reverse -- as often seen on the
thick-planchet coins. A pair of die breaks run in parallel across
the reverse (Breen Die State III). Choice VF definition remains on
where the motifs remain unaffected by die state, with Liberty's
portrait especially sharp for the grade. Our EAC grade VF25.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2225, Variety PCGS# 35086, Base PCGS# 1018, Greysheet# 80860)
Weight: 6.74 grams
Metal: 100% Copper
