1795 Plain Edge Half Cent, AU58
    C-5a, No Pole, Thin Planchet

1795 1/2 C Plain Edge, No Pole, Thin Planchet, C-5a, B-5a, R.3, AU58 PCGS. The Thin Planchet variant of C-5 is typically seen in lower grades, seldom at this near-Mint level. In this grade, the fine reverse die cracks are plainly visible, as well as the heavy crack from LF to the R in AMERICA. C-5a is known for having an uneven strike that leaves the obverse border from 7 to 9 o'clock and the corresponding portion of the reverse border both weak, as seen here. Satiny redwood-brown surfaces show smooth, luminous fields with no major wear or contact marks. Our EAC grade AU50.
