Description

Off-Center 1795 'Punctuated Date'
Plain Edge Half Cent, C-4, VF Details

1795 1/2 C Plain Edge, Punctuated Date--Damaged--NCS. VF Details. Struck 10% Off-Center. C-4, B-4, R.3. Manley Die State 2.0. The right obverse field has die bulges, and HALF CENT is weak but sharper than on many. Struck 10% off-center at 9 o'clock, just far enough to call this a mint error rather than a poorly centered strike.
The surfaces, especially on the obverse, have several small digs or scrapes that warrant the NCS Damaged designation, although this piece is clearly far finer than the collector's usual visualization of a damaged coin. The surfaces are attractive with desirable medium brown color, and there are no traces of corrosion or other imperfections. EAC 10.
