Description

1796 No Pole Half Cent, C-1
Ex: Spangenberger

1796 1/2 C No Pole, C-1, B-1, R.6, PCGS Genuine. The PCGS number ending in .97 suggests Environmental Damage as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, the piece has the details of a Fine specimen that has been severely corroded. Even in this walnut-brown example's heavily corroded state, the signature horizontal die crack bisecting the obverse remains clear. Ownership of any 1796 No Pole half cent long has been considered a mark of a notable collection in that series, as the variant is very rare regardless of condition. Our EAC grade AG3.
