1797 Half Cent, AU Details
C-2, Plain Edge
1797 1/2 C Plain Edge, C-2, B-2, R.3 -- Scratch -- PCGS Genuine.
AU Details. This variety is scarce in high grade. The present
coin shows several old pinscratches on the Liberty portrait that
prevent a numeric grade, but these are not obvious to the unaided
eye. The obverse is well-struck, while the reverse shows weakness
along portions of the border dentils. Both sides have deep
chocolate-brown patina with fairly smooth fields. Our EAC grade
VF20.
