    Description

    1803 C-3, B-3 Half Cent, MS63 Brown
    'Cross-Eyed Zeros' Reverse

1803 1/2 C MS63 Brown NGC. C-3, B-3, R.2. Manley Die State 3.0. The prominent die bulge of this die state is diagnostic for the variety, although it is not present on the rare earlier die states. This example shows heavy clash marks at the throat with die file lines in the field, especially from the B to the hair, and from the Y to the nose. The reverse has a curved crack from the second T in STATES to the top left leaf and the F in HALF. The right branch of the wreath is weakly defined as usual in the later die states. This splendid specimen has smooth olive-brown surfaces with a reddish-olive appearance on the reverse. A delightful example. Our EAC grade AU55.(Registry values: P6) (NGC ID# 222E, PCGS# 1060)
