Elusive 1803 C-1, B-1 Half Cent, MS65 Brown
1803 1/2 C MS65 Brown NGC. C-1, B-1, R.1. Among coins that are part of the Draped Bust half cent series, 1800, 1804, and 1806 are the only dates that regularly come in Mint State grades. The best 1802 is XF, and 1803, 1805, and 1808 are each about equally rare in MS60 or finer, while 1807 is a bit more plentiful.This 1803 C-1 variety, NGC certified MS65 Brown, is an amazing example of the date and variety. Both sides have a nice impression, and the surfaces are exceptional, with dark olive color and splashes of deeper steel patina. EAC 55. Census: 2 in 65 Brown, 0 finer (7/08).(Registry values: P6)
