1804 C-9 B-8 Half Cent, MS66 Brown
Terminal Die State

1804 1/2 C Crosslet 4, Stems, C-9, B-8, R.2, MS66 Brown PCGS. Ex: Missouri Cabinet-Simpson. Breen Die State VII, Manley State 5.0, Fuhrman Die State 7. The obverse has a rim break (cud) connecting the tops of RTY to the border. A die crack joins LIBER and another from the 4 in the date passes through the drapery to the border. This Premium Gem is plated three times in the Breen Half Cent Encyclopedia, and it is plated in Ed Fuhrman's Half Cent Handbook.

Listed first in the Breen-Hanson Condition Census, this piece is clearly the finest known with the obverse rim break. A small area of mahogany and maroon patina rests on the upper left obverse surface of this Premium Gem that retains hints of original mint color on the obverse and nearly one-fourth of the original red luster on the reverse. Our EAC grade MS63.
Ex: Jon G. Hanson (1979 ANA Convention); R. Tettenhorst; Missouri Cabinet (Goldberg Auctions, 1/2014), lot 71.
