Description
Double Struck 1805 Half Cent
VF20, No Stems, C-1, B-1
1805 1/2 C Small 5, No Stems--Double Struck--VF20 PCGS. C-1,
B-1, R.1. Manley Die State 1.0. Designated by PCGS as "Obverse
Double Struck in Collar", although we believe that the first strike
was uniface obverse and widely off center toward 1:30. The second
strike was well centered, and removed most design elements of the
first strike, although Liberty's profile is clearly seen within the
hair from the second strike, and the curve of a planchet is noted
beneath the ribbon loop. A chocolate-brown half cent with bold
legends and only a few faded thin marks on the upper right obverse
field. MRB Fine 12.
