Description

1805 1/2 C Small 5, Stems -- Tooled -- NGC Details. VG. C-3, B-3, R.4. Manley Die State 2.0 with a conspicuous bulge (as struck from a sunken die) on the field near the profile. This well-worn half cent has surprisingly good eye appeal for a low grade piece, and lacks the usual heavy roughness seen on this issue, with only a slight corrosion spot near the date. The surfaces are pleasing despite a few small marks that are expected for the grade, including a minor pedigree mark in the obverse field below the hair ribbon. Both sides exhibit pleasing olive-brown color throughout. The normal die bulge in the right obverse field is minimally advanced, and that is likely the feature that prompted the "Tooled" description from NGC, even though it is as struck. Our EAC grade Good 4.
