Description

1806 C-2, B-1 Half Cent, XF40
Small 6, Stems

1806 1/2 C Small 6, Stems, C-2, B-1, R.4, XF40 PCGS. Manley Die State 3.0. This is the latest die state recorded in the Manley reference with a crack through the base of the date to the drapery. The 1806 C-2 is the usually encountered Small 6, Stems variety, and the only one that is available in higher grades. Between 150 and 200 of these survive, while about 40 to 50 examples of the C-3 die pair are known. The rare C-3 marriage is unknown above Fine. This piece has smooth tan and olive-brown surfaces with minuscule marks on each side including an old, blended scrape on Liberty's bust. Our EAC grade VF30.
