Ideal First-Year Type Specimen
1809 1/2 C MS64 Brown PCGS. C-6, B-6, R.1. Manley Die State
3.0. This piece exhibits characteristics of Die State 3.0 in The
Half Cent Die State Book, although other characteristics
suggest an earlier die state. The reverse is rotated about 60
degrees counterclockwise.Despite its status as the most common 1809 half cent variety, the present opportunity is extremely important to specialists, date collectors, and type collectors alike. Any Mint State 1809 half cent is in high demand. This Choice example has frosty cartwheel luster with dark brown, steel, and iridescent surfaces that exhibit traces of original mint color. PCGS has certified 20 examples in MS64 and seven finer for all varieties and color designations (2/11). MRB MS60.(Registry values: P3)
