    1811 C-1, B-1 Half Cent, AU58+
    Late Die State, Four-Star Break
    From the Virgil Brand Collection

1811 1/2 C Wide Date, C-1, B-1, Low R.4, AU58+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: Missouri Cabinet Collection. Manley Die State 5.0, and apparently one of the finest known of the late die state. Manley writes: "The finest example with the 4-star cud (State 5.0) is reported at the About Uncirculated level." This is the Gilbert plate coin with the four-star break.

Lines of planchet lamination are visible on each side, on the obverse below the ear and inside the wreath over HALF. Three small obverse dents are the only flaws other than faint, scattered hairlines. Our EAC grade XF45.
