Description
1826 1/2 C 6 over Horizontal 6 AU58 NGC. C-2, B-2, R.3. An early die state with the repunched date details clearly visible. The scarcer of two varieties for the year, represented here by a well-defined reddish-brown piece. Smooth surfaces show just a touch of friction. The 1826 C-2 half cent is one of the most elusive varieties of the Classic Head type, especially in high grades. EAC 50.Ex: William Eckberg Collection.(Registry values: P3)
