Description

1828 C-2, B-3 Half Cent, MS64 Brown
Popular 12 Stars Variety

1828 1/2 C 12 Stars MS64 Brown PCGS. C-2, B-3, R.2. The obverse has but 12 stars, the engraver apparently miscounting. Some have suggested it was a layout problem, but there is clearly room for a 13th star right of the date. This lovely near-Gem exhibits chestnut-brown surfaces with frosty cartwheel luster and splashes of faded orange mint color. MRB MS60. Population: 11 in 64 Brown, 1 finer (7/11).(Registry values: P1)
