Scarce Early Die State

1828 1/2 C 13 Stars, C-3, B-2, R.1, MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. Manley Die State 2.0 with Star 7 recut and a long spine from the leaf over the H in HALF. Rich orange surfaces have slight mellowing of the original mint color with delicate brown toning and myriad trivial spots on each side that fail to limit the numerical grade of this important half cent. This lovely piece is tied with seven others for the finest that PCGS has certified in Red and Brown, with two graded MS65 Red, and a single MS66 Brown graded numerically finer (2/19). Our EAC grade MS63.
