Sharp 1828 13 Stars Half Cent
C-3, B-2, MS65 Red
1828 1/2 C 13 Stars MS65 Red NGC. C-3, B-2, R.1.
Misattributed as C-1 on the NGC holder. The C-3 diagnostics are:
the 2 in the date appears low in comparison to 18, star 7 is
repunched, the highest leaf extends just past the last S in STATES,
and a defect joins the left top of H in HALF to the leaf.Reddish-copper luster resides on both sides of this lovely Gem half cent, and a well executed strike imparts strong definition to the design features. Close inspection reveals no significant contact marks or spots. In sum, a sharp 13 Stars half cent. EAC 64. Census for the date: 1 in 65 Red, 0 finer (3/09).
