Description

1834 1/2 C MS 64 Brown. This introduction of new coinage equipment to the Philadelphia Mint in the early 1830s prompted William Kneass to modify the design of the Classic Head half cent in 1831. Whereas extant survivors of the earlier issues often display poorly centered impressions and scant denticulation, the present near-gem is well defined throughout. Nicely preserved and possessed of smooth, chocolate-brown surfaces, there appear to be no distractions that would prevent this coin from attaining an even higher grade.
