1840 Half Cent, PR61 Red and Brown
    B-1 Original

1840 1/2 C Original PR61 Red and Brown PCGS. B-1, R.5. Large berries in the reverse wreath identify the Original die pair. This Red and Brown proof displays satiny surfaces with deep amber-red patina. A few scattered flecks are not bothersome. There are few contact marks. Considerable strike softness occurs around portions of the borders, most notably on the lower-obverse and upper-reverse rims and the top of the wreath. The mint luster is satiny rather than deeply reflective. Our EAC grade PR45.(Registry values: P4)

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
