Description

1854 C-1, B-1 Half Cent, MS66 Red and Brown
Only One Finer at MS66+

1854 1/2 C C-1, B-1, R.1, MS66 Red and Brown NGC. The 55,358 half cents struck in 1854 used only one die pair, most of which survived with Brown surfaces. This Premium Gem displays satiny-smooth original red with subtle olive-brown accents on the obverse. The strike is sharp with strong dentilation and full radial lines on all stars. A tremendous cartwheel effect is released, and eye appeal is exceptional. There are no numerically finer pieces at NGC or PCGS, although PCGS reports one in MS66+ (10/25). Housed in a generation 4 fatty holder.
