Description

1855 Half Cent, C-1, MS65 Red
Tied for Finest Full Red Example

1855 1/2 C C-1, B-1, R.1, MS65 Red PCGS. A single die pair was used to strike the 56,500-coin production figure of the 1855 half cent. A moderate number of Mint State pieces survive, many exhibiting some degree of mint Red luster, ideal for type purposes. This piece displays softly frosted, coppery-red luster over each side, with surfaces that are void of any noticeable flaws. Poor definition around the borders is typical of this issue, though the central devices remain well-detailed. Our EAC grade MS65. Population: 28 in 65 Red, 0 finer (5/14).
