    (1831-36) HT-261 Feuchtwanger Store Card, AU58

(1837-38) New York, New York, Dr. L. Feuchtwanger, Low-248, HT-261, W-NY-480-55j PE, R.7, AU58 NGC. German silver, plain edge. Dr. Lewis Feuchtwanger, a New York City chemist and metallurgist, is well-known for his "American Silver Composition" that contained no actual silver. The alloy is known today as German silver. His advertising tokens, like the one offered here, are elusive and highly popular. This pleasing light gray example with slightly reflective fields is highly attractive.

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
