    Rare Gilt 1837 Smith's Clock Token, HT-317A

    1837 Smith's Clock, Low-138A, HT-317A, R.7, New York, NY, MS62 NGC. Gilt copper. From the same dies as the common Low-138, but gilt, as issued. Gold, olive, and dove-gray toning graces this sharply struck example. A few moderate marks are on the left half of each side, and a spot is present beneath the Y in BOWERY.
    Ex: John J. Ford, Jr. Collection Part IV (Stack's, 6/04), lot 275. Ford purchased the piece from Julian Leidman on 8/21/68.
