Description

Flat Rim 1907 High Relief, MS64
    Bright, Satiny Surfaces

1907 $20 High Relief, Flat Rim MS64 PCGS. A satiny near-Gem of this world-famous issue. The fully struck central devices rise in high relief above the smooth and satiny fields. The right reverse border has a few tiny planchet flaws, and minor strike doubling is seen on the base of the LIBE in LIBERTY, but these Mint-produced characteristics are of no consequence, and do not affect the coin's significant eye appeal. As an issue, the High Relief is merely scarce, but by gold type standards, it is rare, and demand is furthered by its remarkable medallic appearance and undeniable historical importance. Its design came from America's foremost sculptor, and production was compelled by Presidential order.

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
