1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim--Improperly Cleaned--NGC Details. Unc. The famous High Relief double eagle has long fascinated collectors, since its appearance is more like a medal than a coin, and its mintage is only a fraction of both regular issue Philadelphia eagles from that year. Many examples were acquired by wealthy but casual collectors who thought that it would be a good idea to lightly wipe their trophy piece. The present satiny example is slightly glossy, but bagmarks are nearly absent, and the strike is bold with only minor blending on the highpoints.
